Pack one page, not a whole craft kit
A small folder with a few printable pages, chunky pencils and a hard surface is enough. Choose pages with clear outlines and generous spaces so they work in a car, train or waiting room.
Use the journey as the story
Ask where the character is travelling, what they can see from the window and what they will do when they arrive. Children can add one detail to the picture each time you stop.
Offer choices without pressure
Bring three colors and let the child decide which one belongs to the sky, the animal or the funny little detail. There is no “correct” finished page.
Keep a digital backup
Download the same page to an iPad or Android drawing app before leaving. Paper is useful in the car; pixels are useful when the table is too small.
